Fazoli's introduces new menu based on guests' requests

All 313 restaurants offer new salads, hearty meat lasagna and more

April 26, 2007 // Franchising.com // LEXINGTON, Ky. - Fazoli's "fast Italian" restaurants are introducing a new guest-driven menu featuring many newly created entrees with enhanced product quality and more options for different appetites.

Highlights of the new menu are four crisp "Italian Market Salads" and a guest requested transformation of Fazoli's classic cheese lasagna into a hearty version packed with meat and layers of cheeses.

That's not all. The menu includes six-cheese ravioli and three fruity new Italian Ice flavors—peach, pomegranate and triple berry. For even more flexibility, all Fazoli's entrees can become combo meals by adding a pizza slice or side salad, and drink, for a great price.

"We call it the 'Aaaahtalian Menu.' It's comfort food that satisfies," said Chief Executive Officer Bob Weissmueller. "We've gotten great feedback from our guests during market testing. The result is this tasty new menu featuring exciting products our guests really want."

The four new "Italian Market Salads" were created in response to guests' desire for additional healthy options. The salads – Chicken and Fruit, Chicken BLT Ranch, Chicken Pasta Caesar and Parmesan Chicken – are available with a choice of seven salad dressings, including three that are fat-free.

Weissmueller, noting that most fast-food menus are full of trans fat, said the new menu has more than 50 choices with zero grams of trans fat.

"Our guests enjoy our wide variety of options, rich flavors and great taste." he said.

Weissmueller cited the new meat lasagna as a great example of richer flavor.

"Our classic cheese lasagna has always been very popular, but our guests were asking for a meat version," he said. "What we created is a filling, new meat lasagna with layers of ricotta, parmesan and Romano cheeses that guests will love. We're also introducing a new Rigatoni Romano, baked and topped with melted mozzarella."

In addition to the new Lasagna and Rigatoni, the menu also offers several other hearty and tempting pastas along with upgraded pizza selections, with zesty new marinara, and warm oven-baked Submarinos and Paninis.

"There is a demand for food that is fast, fresh and good. The 'Aaaahtalian Menu' delivers—with a huge variety of tempting choices, full of flavor. This new menu truly satisfies the hungers of any individual or family," Weissmueller said.

Fazoli's, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., has 313 restaurants in 31 states.
