Woody’s Bar-B-Q® of Sebastian Earns Two Top Honors

April 02, 2025 // Franchising.com // Jacksonville, Fl. – The numbers are in, and one Woody’s Bar-B-Q location walked away with a pair of prestigious accolades based on its sales performance during 2024. Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Sebastian, Florida – owned by local residents Kathy and Roger Birt – earned the honors of Top Sales and Largest Increase in Year-over-Year Sales from the classic Southern BBQ chain’s corporate office. 

“From their community outreach to the dining experience they’ve fostered in their restaurant, Kathy and Roger have built a dedicated team and an extraordinarily loyal fanbase,” said Yolanda Mills-Mawman, Co-Founder and President of Woody’s Bar-B-Q. “It all begins with the couple at the heart of their operation. They are savvy restaurateurs who regularly invest in their restaurant to ensure a top-tier environment for their guests. The Birts have a big heart for their community and give back to many community outreach organizations like the Sebastian Exchange Club, the Sebastian River High School Athletic Program, other local school programs, and more. They also show support for local heroes with special discounts for first responders, law enforcement officers, hospital employees, and all active military members. Their staff see this, and it inspires them to do their very best for the customers they serve, whether taking an order at the front of the house or preparing meals at the back of the house. It’s more than just a job to everyone who works at Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Sebastian, and it shows in their sales performance.”

Mills-Mawman and her fellow co-founder and company namesake, Woody Mills, extend their congratulations and gratitude to the Birts and staff at Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Sebastian, stating they are all an outstanding representation of the Woody’s Bar-B-Q brand. After launching in 1980, the classic Southern Bar-B-Q chain celebrates its 45th year of dishing out slow-smoked BBQ, comfort food sides, and decadent desserts to a growing fanbase. Their one corporate-owned restaurant – the original location on University Boulevard in Jacksonville – and eight franchise locations are all currently located in Florida, with several new locations in the works in the Southeast. Given their outstanding record of success, the Birts welcome the opportunity to serve as mentors to incoming franchisees.

“Our goal is to provide a family-style restaurant where everyone feels welcome,” said Roger Birt. “We strive to be affordable in these challenging economic times and are continuously looking at every angle to cut costs while offering savings to our customers as well. Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Sebastian features an extensive menu, a full bar, a takeout window, a private dining room for buffet events, a warm and welcoming atmosphere with an authentic hometown feel, and a jam-packed calendar of events. Throughout the week, the eatery plays host to daily drink specials, Kids Eat Free Mondays, All You Can Eat Pork Specials on Mondays, Tuesday Night Trivia (a fan favorite with their guests since 2016), All You Can Eat Ribs Specials on Tuesdays, Prime Rib Specials on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Baby Back Ribs Specials on Thursday, 99¢ Wings on Saturdays, and All You Can Eat Bar-B-Q Chicken on Sundays. The Indian River County restaurant is open Monday through Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm.
