Fluent in multiple languages, Charlwood attended Southampton University on a scholarship before parlaying his part-time summer tour guide job into a full-fledged travel industry career.

Charlwood opened the first Uniglobe travel agency in British Columbia in 1981. Today, Uniglobe has offices in 60 countries on six continents.
